Babies, bunnies, bags, and bells

One thing we've really noticed about Kate is that she is very appreciative of the little things. She loves holding things and brings them everywhere. Some of the things she loves most are the cell phone we sent her (that plays music!), her bunny, her santa hat, her baby, a little purse, and necklaces. She got a little jingle bell at Daddy and Me story time on Saturday and has been carrying it/wearing it EVERYWHERE. She doesn't let go of it! It's so funny! It's always around her neck with a mardi-gras necklace. It's so cute! Whenever she has her santa hat, she will point to her head and "tell" us to put it on her head. And she doesn't take it off, either. It's sooo funny. And then there is her bunny, which she adores. She even says Bunny! (or more like Budda.) She also loves little purses and most of the time, she has one around her wrist. And when her hands sitll have room, she has her baby... her beloved baby and its bottle. She LOVES her baby (and is soooo adorable when she says baby!) If she's not talking on her cell phone or ringing her bell, then you can find her holding/dancing with/rocking/feeding/singing to her baby. She is so sweet and I love watching her run around with all her things filling her arms. She is just the sweetest little thing and such a little joy to us!

My daughter would also horde things. She collected kleenex and stuff her pockets FULL and would throw a fit if I tried to take even one away. It was heartbreaking to watch, as she was obviously used to having things taken away from her, because she was afraid to let her posessions out of her sight. It is a control thing - she has been taken away from everything she has EVER known, and placed in a completely new environment. She is trying to cope by controlling the only way she knows how. I hope that as she settles in more she will begin to trust that you are there to stay, and her things are there to stay. Until then, HUGS to your family, I know how hard it is to have a grieving toddler that does not fully trust yet. Anna was younger when you adopted her, so you may have not had to deal with this with her. It does get better, I promise!

Oh, how blessed you and your family are! I need to find Kylie a jingle bell, she's been talking about one non-stop since seeing The Polar Express the other night...
